G&R RACING

G and R racing is made up of Garron Cadiente and Ron Whitton. Garron and Ron originally became customers of Revenge Racing when they purchased two Predator sand cars for use in the Imperial sand dunes. Garron owned a 5 seater with a Mendiola 2D and a 510hp LS1. Ron owned a 5 seater as well but with a twin turbo Northstar and a Fortin trans. After may years of fun use they decided to get new cars and opted for our dual sport chassis, the Sidewinder. Garron went with a chromed out car with a 510hp LS1 and an Albins 5 speed trans while Ron went with a full bodied, boxed arm dessert car with the same motor and trans combo.

Not too long after that Garron and I (Justin) were talking about a race coming up soon and that we should go up there and pre-run the race with Ron's car. The pre-run didn't happen but next thing you know Garron had purchased another Sidewinder, designed and prepped by Revenge, that was built with a raw chassis and suspension as well as some extra electronics and spares to go racing with. After a couple test sessions in the desert, Garron decided to enter the next race on the calendar which happened to be the Barstow, Wild Wash 250. We showed up to run the race with Garron's car in class one and Ron said it would be fun to run his car too. So we pulled it out of the trailer with sand tires on it, changed the tires, added some of the needed things for safety and Ron entered the sportsman class. Being Garron and Ron's first race, it was decided to pretty much take it easy and drive a safe race. Well, Garron finished first in class and second overall while Ron finished second in class! They were hooked. The next race was the Rocky Point 250 where Garron finished first in class and Ron finished first in his class as well. The next race was the Ridgecrest 250. Even though Garron was hit by a truck on the course and rolled 7 times, he still finished the race 5th over all.

Ron entered class one for the first time and finished 4th overall. The next race was the Lucern 250 where Ron ran class one again and took 1st in class and 1st overall! Next Ron decided to run the Snowflake 250 as a warm up for the Primm 300 the following weekend. The race was run as two separate races, 125 miles in the morning and 125 miles at night. Starting 12th in class Ron was able to get forward to 4th in the first 4 laps. During the break between races it rained so bad that the race was cancelled and Ron was never able to show what he could have done during the second race. On to Primm.

At this point Ron and Garron had the bug bad and picked up a Geiser Brother built trophy truck to run in a few SCORE races. The first race for the truck was the Nevada 1000. A few problems on the course dropped them back in the pack but they finished in the top 20 in a race where just finishing is an accomplishment. The next race for them was the Primm 300 where Garron would drive the trophy truck and Ron would run a car in class one. The grueling course took its toll on the entrants which numbered over 30 trophy trucks and over 45 class ones. Garron drove a smooth race to finish 5th and Ron finished 13th in class one with a shock problem which dropped him back an hour in the beginning of the race.

The future for G and R looks great with plans to run Vegas to Reno and the Baja 1000. With driving like Ron and Garron have shown and prep and pit support from Revenge Racing the next few races look promising.
